Quotes of the day"Appreciation can make a day--even change a life, Your willingness to put it into words is all that is necessary." --Margaret Cousins "Respect ... is appreciation of the separateness of the other person, of the ways in which he or she is unique." --Annie Gottlieb 6:44:29 PM ![]()

Wednesday's musingI've had a much more productive day today, and came home feeling as if I'd accomplished quite a lot. Funny how one day can be so depressing and the next day everything runs along so smoothly. As much as I bitch and moan at times about my job, I really am thankful to be working. We have a new CEO beginning Monday, and I'm looking forward to whatever changes might come our way, as I've always been up for a challenge. It's always refreshing to have a new pair of eyes around, and I've heard really good things about him. I'm easy to get along with, more tolerant than most people I know, and don't expect any conflicts to arise. Change isn't something I've typically been fond of, but at this stage in my career it's exactly what I need! Family/American Idol night was great! I cooked enough spaghetti for an army, and we all ate in the den while watching the show. My girls are so entertaining. Only 15 months between them, and they couldn't be closer if they were twins. They were telling us they'd made a home movie...their own American Idol auditions, which sounds hilarious and I can't wait to see it. Naturally, they all made it to "Hollywood". It's wonderful that they are so close, and the older they get, the more they seem to love and respect each other as individuals. Funny, smart, beautiful and loving....they are all I could ever hope for and more. Sure makes a mom proud. All I know is I'm feeling especially grateful tonight. For everything. Amen. 6:33:55 PM ![]()

Early From The DanceAn excerpt from a book I love...Early From The Dance by David Payne - the story of a man who returns to his childhood home of coastal North Carolina and relives one fateful teenage summer. It's smart, hot and sexy. The dialogue flows as natural as a mountain spring. It's one of the few books I'd declare perfectly written, and some may not agree, but I loved every single word. "Sometimes I still dreamed of him, but in my daily life I rarely thought of Cary anymore. The same was largely true of Jane, though sometimes in a restaurant or on a crowded bus I'd catch a trace of her perfume and hold the ache until it passed. But that had been another life. The old world of Killdeer had vanished 13 years before when I'd left the South and come to New York City. I'd been eighteen then. Now I was almost thirty-two. A lot had happened. Doors had opened, I'd gone through them. I had been almost rich and almost famous for a time. I'd watched it all go wrong. Then one day the phone rang, and across that time and distance the past reached out for me like the long arm of some ghostly truant officer collaring a wayward boy, drawing me home to an accounting I'd hoped I'd never have to make." 5:57:14 PM ![]()
