100 things about me

"A person should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful that God has implanted in the human soul." - Goethe

Some w(h)ine with that cheese, please

A very quiet day today, and I managed to nap for a little while.  The kids are here playing Nintendo in Becca's bedroom, the cats are sleeping and Belle is tapped out on the floor under my computer desk.  I must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed this morning - I've been moody and a little withdrawn all day.

Carrie, the oldest, who is getting married in August came by to tell me they are making plans to honeymoon at Disney World.  She's been online all morning planning the trip and is looking for cheap airline tickets.  So far, she's only come up with an offer from Northwest wanting $440 round trip for the two of them.  I told her to check with Southwest (they were always so much lower when I was traveling so much to New Hampshire).  I wish I could remember the name of that discount fare site someone gave to me last year, but for the life of me I can't recall it.  I've been searching online for it today, but so far nothing has jogged my memory.  I'm getting old.  And the fact that my little girl is soon to be married just makes me feel older.  Or maybe it's the fact that I've been married (not gonna put a number here) times myself, and based on my prior experiences, I worry more than I probably should.  Or maybe I'm just depressed today.  For no apparent reason.

On another note - Scott and I watched Panic Room last night.  Good flick, but then again, I've always been a fan of Jodie Foster.  A little disappointed at the ending for I wanted Forest Whitaker to make his escape.  Hard to hold anything against Forest Whitaker.  He just has the kind of face that begs for empathy.  Hope to rent Signs next week, although Carrie & Chase watched it last night and her critique wasn't so great.  But hey! it's Mel;  and around here, Mel's become an inside joke (not to mention a recurring subject of hilarious dreams),  so we're obligated.  That and the fact that he's damn fine to look at...

So that's it.  That's my day.  I'm out of BC powders and the kitties need food. Hmmppphhhh.

Emode's Ink Blot Test

My results:

Deb, your unconscious mind is driven most by Love

Everyone has a desire to love. But your desire is rooted very deeply in your unconscious and affects many of the decisions you make in life — whether you are aware of it or not.

You have an energy about you that inspires people to experience their true feelings of love and act kindly towards others. In this way, you and your drive for loving relationships start a chain reaction of positive experiences.

The reason you are driven by love, may be because your unconscious is trying to avoid the opposite of love — hate. You, more than others, may be afraid of experiencing severe discord with others. That may, in turn, heavily influence your choices about relationships and the way you communicate your ideas, wants, and desires to others.

With such a strong orientation towards loving others, your relationships hold a very special place in your life. Your capacity to love may be greater than those around you, and therefore you may have more to give in relationships than your romantic partner does. Remember that this is a gift you have and one most others don't possess.

Though your unconscious mind is driven most strongly by Love, there is much more to who you are at your core.

Reveal your unconscious mind

A big ol' howdy-do

A great big Rocky Top WELCOME to the newest member of The Rocky Top Brigade - Barry's  Inn of the Last Home, coming to you live and in color from the Great State of Tennessee.  He's a self-proclaimed church-going, theatre-loving, sci-fi watching liberal, living in Knoxville, TN (what is it with you mountain boys anyways?) and like the rest of us - still searching for a good single malt Scotch whiskey for around $20 (when the lemonade runs out...)

Sleeping with Elvis
Woke up before the crack of dawn again this morning, back aching and two cats who refused to budge out of the wedge they'd created between me and Scott.  I'm accustomed to Sugar sleeping on our bed - she's hardly noticible, a mere slip of a feline who prefers dozing at the foot of the bed.  But last night, Elvis managed to whine just enough for me to allow him in too.  There is no ignoring Elvis.  Sugar tucks into a tiny ball of fluff on her blankie.  Elvis sprawls head to toe - I swear I could feel him growing bigger and bigger while he slept - and no matter where my arms or legs tried to stretch, he was there.  And now that we're both awake, having had our morning coffee and Purina, I can't help but notice that he's feeling much friskier than his owner.
