A very disturbing image capture device that could be used with a future cameraphone.

The potential for cameraphone abuse is high -- I wonder if it will push legislation that allows cellphone signals to be jammed in certain areas (schools, beaches, change areas, etc).

There are numerous reports that Apple accidentally leaked some of the specs for a new line of machines based on the IBM 970 64 bit processor. Apple tries to achieve a bit of drama and this time around the speculation about a migration to the IBM part is at a fever pitch.

I find it difficult to believe that Apple would accidentally post something like this. The possibilities seem to be: someone lost their job in a dramatic fashion, Apple is fanning the speculation flames, or they were hacked.

If you have ever studied TV's history this is a bit on the shallow side, but it is a good introduction and some of the links are interesting.

The universe is a strange place indeed.

Kip notes an paper on arxiv that discusses a star that is spinning fast enough that its radius is 50% larger at its equator than at its poles.

Now to explain it -- this happens to violate the accepted models of stellar mass distribution.

This was predictable

A semi-readable screen, proprietary standards, digital rights management so tight that you couldn't even transfer old ebooks to newer devices and expensive prices were all pointing in the wrong direction.

Have you ever tried to read a 300 page document on a PC or reading device? I've seen a prototype screen from IBM that would probably do the job, but paper is a remarkable technology.
