A Foodie By Nature
Favorite Recipes, Little Known Food Facts, New Food Observations, The Latest Health News!

Since I've been collecting recipes for many years, WHY NOT share these special concoctions? Some are from friends, some from magazines or favorite cookbooks. All are yummy and most are low fat. I'm really getting interested in more low fat recipes as I get older. Seems that little bit of extra weight become a little harder to get off! I also collect food and nutrition tidbits from other sources and I will be posting those as well. Enjoy!

Dang, I wanted to list a new recipe here - I tried a great soup several weeks ago, a really "good for you" soup. Do you think I can find the magazine it was in? I gotta keep looking. It contained beans and kale - you know kale is really good for you and so are beans! I think it came from a "Woman's First" magazine - you know, the magazine you pick up at the supermarket by the checkout?

I also found a great cookbook called Stews, Bogs and Burgoos by James Villas. There are some yummy sounding recipes in the book. I have too many cookbooks and not enough time to try all the great recipes!

Saw a couple of stories on http://www.reutershealth.com/en/index.html that are interesting. One story is on Strawberries, raspberries halt cancer in rats and the other story is about High calcium intake may lower ovarian cancer risk.

I have a favorite breakfast that makes use of the strawberry thing - I put 1/2 cup or so of non-fat plain yogurt in a bowl, then add one cup of fresh fruit (strawberries and blueberries and banana). I also add a sprinkling of ground almonds and finely chopped walnuts to the top. Sometimes I add wheat germ also. This is very good for me - calcium in the yogurt and all those cancer-fighting fruits and nuts. It's filling also - helps to keep AM snacking down!

Seems like every single day a new health report comes out, doesn't it? It probably won't be more than a couple of months before these "new" stories are determined to not be fact after all!

You just can't believe anything anymore! Better to just eat what you like, within reason of course!

This is all too confusing! I take Prempro and am not sure what to do about stopping it. What I have been doing is taking it every other day instead of every day. Yikes!
