So, today has been a bit odd. It is Friday here at ye olde place of employment and no one seems to be thinking clearly. Most of our conversations have been devolving at an alarming rate. For example, my boss and I started talking about VCRs, but then we ended talking about Lutefisk. Worse yet, we're not entirely sure how we got to talking about such things. However, it did lead us to google the term Lutefisk, and I came across a piece of writing that I just had to share. Clay Shirky got some press in the past months for writing an article about blogging, social structures and A-lists, but did you know that he also has tried Lutefisk? Neither did I. However, now I know this and I respect him for it.
The moment every traveller lives for is the native dinner where, throwing caution to the wind and plunging into a local delicacy which ought by rights to be disgusting, one discovers that it is not only delicious but that it also contradicts a previously held prejudice about food, that it expands ones culinary horizons to include surprising new smells, tastes, and textures.
Lutefisk is not such a dish. You really really need to read the rest of it.
In the meantime, I will be sitting my office so as not to harm the productivity of my coworkers, as when there are more than one of us in one space, our conversations have been devolving more quickly than a drunken fratboy with a pitcher of punch. |
Friday Five Oh what the hell. A crappy Friday Five.
