Jim's Pond - Exploring the Universe of Ideas
"Beware when the great God lets loose a thinker on this planet. Then all things are at risk. It is as when a conflagration has broken out in a great city, and no man knows what is safe, or where it will end." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

Sometimes It's Personal

Monday I found out that David Eisler is leaving Weber State University. He has accepted the presidency at a good sized University in Michigan. Yesterday I attended the Instructional Services retreat and had a chance to talk with David.

I wished him well. And expressed my sense of loss.

I have known David for a bit more than three years. I've called him at home, late at night, several times, to notify him of network problems. He has taken time with me on many occasions to discuss his vision of education and technology. David is an authority on the use of portal technology in education settings, having written a number of definitive papers.

David has been a bright light for furthering the collaboration of education and technology in Utah. He will be missed.

David, thanks for your time and your insights. Good luck in your next adventure........
