When Les Paul invented multi-track recording, he changed how musicians worked and composed. Multi-track recording is, in my opinion, the single biggest event in modern music before the event of digital. To be able to layer stuff track after track by yourself instead of hiring 3 or more musicians, enabled Stevie Wonder and Prince to record their fantastic albums. Multi-tracking changed how musicians compose, how they experience creating...I can't imagine my work without it. I have a particular way I like the rhythm to sit on the beat and I have never met another guitarist who does it quite the same way. Without multi-tracking I would have had to hire another guitarist - or more likely four other guitarists....it would have never worked out....A big thank you, Les.
