Another day in Paradise
Steve Sloan's weblog. A bit tech, a bit bikes, a bit family, a bit friends, a bit scooters, a bit photo, a bit trains, a bit fun. Eight bits; that's a byte!

My sister is asleep
and I have gone out

I slept late this morning and then went to the gym. I spent the rest of the morning with my sister and was there when she took her injections. She takes about $9K worth of cancer drugs a month in a slim hope of living.

After awhile the drugs took hold and she took a nap and I went out. I had some errands to do, I had almost no interest in train chasing. It is hot here, a stark contrast to the other trips I have made up here. I have a lot of memories from the drive I made the last two days. They have swirled in with many other memories. I have memories of trips past and years past, of my sister and our younger days, of how time passes and how we change, of how what was once young gets old and how our time passes. I saw this house and thought how it was once new, how hands long since passed built it and likely the builder took pride in it. All that is passing into the wind and the earth is reclaiming its timbers.

Finally, I am in Spokane!

Train at Chemult, OR

I am really tired, so I am not writing much. But, I had a great time today chasing trains and driving up highway 97 through Central Oregon. It was a great day. Highway 97 is very scenic. I've driven about 1,000 miles.
