More kitty news
This is from Sue: As Steve mentioned, any serious disease is low on this vet's list of concerns for Shadow. The issue is that his protein levels remain low, but the good news is that they are increasing. Specifically, the two protein levels of concern are his albumin and globulin levels. The way she (the specialist) explains it, the causes of low protein levels might be from wounds (not the case), detected in urine (not the case) or a problem in the GI track (likely). Since we have seen daily (albeit slow) improvement in Shadow, and we learned today that his protein levels are on the rise, she suggested that we monitor him closely and check the levels again in 10-14 days - with the caveat that if he shows another decline to get him in to see her immediately. And also that we do another FIP test in 4-6 weeks.
At this point, I'm thrilled that he's improving and feeling frustrated that we still have not pinpointed what caused this serious health issue or how to cure it. But at the same time, I don't want to put the little guy through an endoscopy unless it's absolutely necessary nor do we want to (spend the money for an unneeded test.)
