Another day in Paradise
Steve Sloan's weblog. A bit tech, a bit bikes, a bit family, a bit friends, a bit scooters, a bit photo, a bit trains, a bit fun. Eight bits; that's a byte!

Yesterday I drove across Washington

Photo, Wenatche River

It started out with wheat fields, rolling wheat fields that seemed to go on forever, but they didn't. Then I was in desert, like Nevada kind of desert. It was barren with occasional cliffs. Then I hit the Columbia River. That was spectacular the way only the Columbia is. At Wenatche I started to climb the mountains. There was a forest fire and I stopped to photograph that. Then it got greener and greener. Stevens Pass reminds me a lot of the Feather River Canyon. I did not see any trains on the pass. I stopped to go into a river and I stopped to check out Cascade Tunnel. At 7.8 miles it is the longest railroad tunnel in the US.

Finally, at dinner time, I arrived at Steve and Lucy's. I have been having a nice visit with them and have enjoyed meeting the kids. They seem like a nice and happy family!
