Who owns words? [posted by ZelderBar] Check this out, the New York Times reported in January of 2003, that Kembrew McLeod, assistant professor of communications studies at the University of Iowa, trademarked the phrase "freedom of expression." He owns it. You can't use it. That's the law. All of this came up when the blog BoingBoing.com reported that McDonalds has trademarked the phrase "I am Asian." I want to trademark the work "I." That way only I can use it.
