The Secret of the Rehearsal Bouquet They Don't Teach You This Stuff In Social Studies Class [posted by Troy] So, Saturday night Kim & I went to a couples shower for a college friend of ours who will be married this summer. I have to admit that I was not that excited about going to a shower, but I ended up having a good time (the Vodka punch helped). Anyway, I learned about the ancient female tradition of collecting ribbons and bows at the shower, which will be used for the rehearsal bouquet. Now, I've had the honor of being in several of my close friends' weddings, and I've never, never, ever, ever heard about this tradition. I can even remember seeing these rehearsal bouquets, but it never once crossed my mind that these piles of ribbon came from somewhere and that they actually meant something. To be honest, the fact that this tradition has existed without my knowledge is kinda freakin' me out. The ritualistic, tribal tendencies of human beings tend to generally manifest themselves in men at sporting events and in women at weddings. From my unscientific statistical survey of the men at last nights shower, men are very clueless about most of the wedding stuff. (I am making broad generalizations here, so forgive me if you fall outside of these genrealizations.)
