This morning I called dispatch and I'll be starting the week tomorrow morning with a run to Illinois and then two runs (supposedly) to Minnesota. So, if everything goes as plans, this weeks miles will be better than last week's miles. That's a big IF!
My wife started her training for lifeguard re-certification at one of the local YMCA's. She'll be working a couple-of-hours each week during the summer so that our kids can can get a reduced rate for membership at the YMCA. Truth be told, if I was getting the 2,300-2,500 miles per week I was told I would be averaging when I signed up with the company I'm driving for, she wouldn't have to work at the YMCA. That being said, she really doesn't mind putting in a few hours a week at the YMCA. And, since she's already received her NAAC certification (Nutriceutical and Anti-Aging Consultant), she may bump into people at the YMCA who are looking for a knowledgeable consultant in the relatively new field of anti-aging.
I just had a thought (scary you say!): since I'm not getting the average mileage I was promised, it would be sweet to drive 2,000 miles / week over 4-days. Depending on how things continue to evolve, that may be something worth exploring. Although it appears that this week will be a 4-day work week, I'll be doing well if I drive 1,700 miles.
