This morning I called dispatch and they didn't have anything as of yet. So around 8:30 AM I called again and Mr. N. said that he had a Wisconsin to Kentucky run with the load being picked-up this evening. That meant an all night drive which I didn't desire. So, I declined that and Mr. N. said he'd locate something else for me. Later in the morning he called back with a load going to the Minneapolis, MN area with the appointment tomorrow morning.
So, just before noon, I went to the warehouse, picked up the loaded trailer, and headed towards Minnesota.
The drive today went like this: sun, clouds, rain, sun, clouds, rain (rinse and repeat). As a result, the truck is officially in need of another wash. However, the company will only allow one wash-per-month (unless of course a driver wants to wash the truck him or herself or pay out of their own pockets to go through a truck wash). I arrived in late afternoon just shy of the Minnesota border and settled down for the evening.
Oh yeah, this morning Mr. N. informed me that the company has not charged me with a "preventable" accident (the bad kind), but rather with a "non-preventable" accident (the not-so-good kind). In other words, my driving record will not reflect that I could have somehow prevented the accident from happening. So, that is some good news although I wish it wouldn't have happened at all (see yesterday's log for the details).
Can't wait for Thursday and Friday! My wife and I are taking our kids to Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL. Our down-the-street neighbor friends along with their kids will also be going. My daughter was their last year for the first time. This will be the first time for my son--gosh he will enjoy it! The first day we will go on the regular rides. On Friday we'll return and hit the new water park they've recently developed. Should be a blast!
Since I won't be driving Thursday and Friday, I'll be taking a delivery to Davenport, IA on Saturday. That will help to boost the mileage for the week.
I almost forgot to mention that Mr. N. is leaving the company as the main manager for the Milwaukee dedicated account and moving back to he and his wife's home town in Iowa. His last day will be this Friday. I'm not sure if he's leaving the trucking industry or not. I hope to touch base with him before he goes. He will be missed. Mr. C. will be promoted in his place (and I'm assuming others will move up the ladder as well).
miles driven = 305
