Continuing its strong tradition of Election Night coverage, KBDI-TV (Channel 12) has announced the broadcast of a special "live" edition of "Colorado Decides 2003," co hosted by Aaron Harber, host of "The Aaron Harber Show," and Greg Dobbs, morning host of AM 1150 KNRC. The special Election Night program will be broadcast "live" from 8:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Tuesday, May 6th. The program will be simulcast "live" on AM 1150 KNRC.
Joining Aaron and Greg will be Denver City Council Members Susan Barnes-Gelt and Ted Hackworth, along with political analysts Katy Atkinson and Eric Sondermann, and former mayoral spokesperson, Andrew Hudson.
An important new element to the already distinguished lineup will be the addition of viewer and listener phone calls on the air. The call-in number for viewers and listeners throughout the Denver Metro area will be (303) 296-1212. Please notify your readers, viewers, and listeners of this special opportunity for them to participate.
KBDI's special broadcast effort is believed to be the first substantive "live" election coverage for a City & County of Denver election, especially given the two-hour block of Prime Time being dedicated to this public affairs program by KBDI-TV.
'We look forward to providing the most up-to-date statistics and in-depth analysis of the Denver election available to viewers and listeners in Colorado, and our audience will have a chance to join in the dialogue,' stated producer Dominic Dezzutti. The Station will rely on Karon Hatchett, the Executive Director of the Denver Election Commission and her staff to provide periodic updates in an effort to ensure the results posted by KBDI throughout the evening are the most current ones possible.
This marks the second simulcast of KBDI?s live election coverage on AM 1150 KNRC. 'We feel that KBDI and KNRC are providing a key resource for the people of our community,' said Alan Eisenson, KNRC Program Director.
KBDI took the lead in televised debates in February and again in April with special one-hour mayoral and auditor debates, featured on "The Aaron Harber Show." Harber has been moderating election debates and providing coverage and analysis for KBDI Channel 12 in various forms since 1996. In addition, he serves as a columnist for The Colorado Statesman and the Denver Daily News, and also is the Political Reporter for WB2 in Colorado (KWGN TV).
KBDI-TV Channel 12 has a proud tradition as Colorado?s perennial source for in depth and insightful election season coverage. The PBS station has sponsored numerous debates and other extensive election coverage in every recent major election. It has coordinated its entire public affairs line-up during election seasons to ensure that citizens of the State of Colorado have an extensive opportunity to see candidates in unrehearsed settings and see vigorous debates on every major ballot issue.
