2003 Denver Mayoral Runoff Election

The Mayoral candidates were up North in Denver last night where political events are a bit more lively than other areas of the city according to the Rocky Mountain News. From the article, "Five months of mostly tame and tepid mayoral forums ended Monday night with a debate that was part church revival, part south stands at the old Mile High Stadium and 100 percent northwest Denver." When asked about his favorite northwest Denver politician Hickenlooper mentioned Jerry Frangas who was elected last fall. Mares mentioned Frana Mace, who was displaying support for Hickenlooper, and is not a fan of his. She had an Ari Zavaras sign up in her yard until the May 6th election. The article also has some details of Don Mares' health plan.

City employees are not in awe of either mayoral candidate and we love to put 'em on the spot with tough questions. Denver Health employees asked both mayoral candidates if they'd switch to Denver Health if elected. According to the Denver Post both candidates fumbled their answers. The article contains some details of both candidate's health proposals.

The Rocky has a short article covering Mares' health plan.

The Rocky Mountain News has an article on John Hickenlooper's restaurants and their records with respect to health inspections. Hickenlooper also released a statement yesterday to the group, Colorado Campaign for Middle East Peace, about remarks he is alleged to have made about them, according to the Rocky. The Rocky also has an opinion piece on the issue attacking the CCMEP in support of John Hickenlooper.
