Coyote Gulch Problems

I'm using a backup from last Sunday after Radio Userland's restore from their servers failed. I've lost my posts from Monday and Tuesday but will repost them over the weekend. If you're using Radio Userland don't depend on their restore function working. Make your own backups of your important files. Perform the backup every day if you post each day. The Restore method in Rogers Cadenhead's book, "Radio Userland Kick Start" did not work for me either.

You should also be aware that support from UserLand is hit or miss. Lawrence Lee is great but so overburdened that his effectiveness is compromised. Some volunteers are very helpful but they don't park on the discussion forum.

2004 Presidential Election

One piece of news this week was the withdrawal of Carol Mosely Braun from the race for the Democratic nomination. She was the only woman candidate and was a champion of the Single Payer Healthcare. I'm hoping that she will still be able to drive some of the discussion going forward. She was my favorite candidate.

I missed posting much of the poll results from the last few days recovering from hardware and software failure. Here's the latest Zogby poll for Iowa from the Daily Kos. John Kerry has opened up a 5 point lead over Dick Gephardt and Howard Dean (both at 19%). Things have really changed this week. It's officially a 4 candidate race between John Kerry, Howard Dean, Dick Gephardt and John Edwards. Edwards really picked up steam after getting the endorsement of the Des Moines Register.

Taegan Goddard is reporting that according to a Survey USA poll Iowa is a four way race.

Colorado Water

State Representative Matt Smith, a Republican from Grand Junction, has introduced a bill to create a South Metro Water District, according to the Rocky Mountain News [January 16, 2004, "Measure would unite south metro water districts"]. From the article, "The agency would be charged with managing existing nonrenewable underground supplies and helping the districts develop a plan to tap renewable mountain waters using Denver Water's system."
