Crashing Gnome

I just had the oddest experience -- I edited a plain old text file under Linux and Lost the ability to type in Firebird or even access the RedHat 9 system menu.  It basically felt like I had crashed Gnome.  Here's what to do.

• Launch Firebird
• Goto Google and search for radio controlled cars
• View the source and save the source to a file in your home directory
• Open it in gedit
• Try and do a search and replace
• **poof** can't type in Firebird or get to the system menu

This happen to anyone else?  I'm wondering if its the length of the string (Google doesn't tend to put carriage return line feeds in).

How About the Bloogle Bar?

I've watched the recent controversy regarding the Google bar and the new "Blog This" feature which ONLY supports blogger.  I'm wondering why don't some of the people in the blogging community that are hard core c / c++ folks simply duplicate the Google toolbar but with support for the blogger api?  I'd bet someone like Nick Bradbury or Luke Hutteman could do it in a hot second.  Make it an open piece of code (or closed).  I'm sure there is also a tcp/ip expert ott there who can deconstruct the existing Google bar's schema to get the ranking info so that could be supported. 

Finally I'd recommend that all blogging tools that support the blogger api offer a download to this.
