Charles is going to a Lenny Kravitz and Pink concert. Ooooh - that will be a great concert. I even sort of like Pink. She's a toughie. Although in the toughie female category, Mary J. Blige rules.
We just don't get concerts like that in Alaska. Our big deal is Ted Nugent (gag) playing the Alaska State Fair.

GCI is sponsoring an art show featuring work by its employees. We get to submit 3 to 5 pieces for jury judging. If we do well, our pieces will be included in the exhibition at a local gallery in December. Here are the rules:
The exhibition will be limited to original works in painting, drawing, photography, and dimensional works of sculpture, carving, pottery, glass and fiber. Works that will not be considered are those that are primarily decorative, rely on molds, patterns or prefabricated components.
I make journals - they can actually be pretty nifty. Hopefully, they'll fit the criteria above. I've got to get going - the pieces are due by September 10th.
Now if I were Niek, Phil, or Charles, I could submit artful photos that would sweep the competition!

I just finished reading The Intuitionist. Quite the little book - it has an almost existentialist tone. It is an off-beat and stark racial allegory. And who would have thought elevators were so interesting and important. Really, a neat and effective trick, to imagine and build an entire contemporary societal structure, almost religion around elevators, the philosophy of elevators, and elevator inspectors.
