A Did You Know? from my buddy Mark Dougherty:
Did you know that a compiled Java .class file begins with a 4-byte signature with the values: 202 254 186 190, or in hex: CAFE BABE.
This little hidden gem was a tribute by Sun to the baristas who kept the developers in good spirits!

Very good news on Reno, the maliciously released Iditarod sled dog. Mark's note below is quite eloquent:
As many of you may have seen on the news or read in the paper, we were successful in recovering Reno last night. It was amazing the support he received from all of you and the community. The initial radio coverage resulted in a sighting the first night, the employee e-mail resulted in an sighting that kept the search focused, the e-mail being forwarded to others resulted in a later sighting, and when a call came to animal control, they had taken the time and effort to be prepared for an exhausted and shy dog. The microchip implanted as part of the Iditarod program (a good tool for all pets, ask your vet) confirmed- it was Reno. We were reunited last night about 8:00 and Reno rested well in his own house in preparation for his trip back to our Denali kennel today.
The message is that we must always remember that we're responsible for these magnificient animals in our care, even to considering the consequences of unthinking or malicious acts of others. While we in the future will have to spend a little extra time to ensure their safety, we are lucky to do so remembering all the help and concern of the many rather than just the stupid act of an individual that exposed them all to the danger.
Thanks you for your concern. Hopefully, you will see Reno again on Fourth Avenue in March!
