In keeping with a tradition, I started last year, I'm going to blog the Super Bowl ads. As I type, the player introductions are just getting underway.
And as I said last year, the reason to watch the Super Bowl is for the ads. I love pro football, but the Super Bowl rarely lives up to the hype. But the ads can be fabulous.
So, let the ads begin!
And I have to gloat. As I wait for the game to begin, I just saw a bald eagle flap over our driveway. Alaska does rule!
Beyonce on the arm of the Marine general is just too much...And her rendition of the National Anthem is also sooooooooooo over the top...sheesh, I'm dyin' here...
Not a single good ad yet. The Muppets Pizza Hut ad was a definite disappointment.
Gosh - Earl Campbell looks old. YA Title is old.
Oooh - Vinatieri misses the chip shot...
Still no good ads...
Ooooh - we have a good one!!!! The Pepsi bear ad is funny - I particularly liked the Alaska Fish and Game License. Trust me, some Alaskan guys can be difficult to distinguish from bears.
The beer ads have been lame - the lamest being the bud light bikini wax ad.
H&R Block's Willie Nelson Tax advice doll ad is pretty funny - especially given Willie's losing battles with the IRS.
Mike Ditka's Levitra ad was the game's first erectile dysfuntion ad - and it was pretty limp.
The Budweiser Clydesdale-Donky ad was kind of cute. But the Clydesdale ads have been much better in the past.
The 2nd Levitra ad was somewhat suggestive - throwing the football through the tire....Gosh, I wonder what that could mean.
The IBM-Linux-Muhammed-Ali-little-kid ad wasn't bad.
With a little over 3 minutes to go in the first half, someone finally scores! Nice touchdown pass thrown by Brady.
Peter and I liked the Visa beach volleyball in the snow ad...We could relate to the snow snow snow...
Whoa - the Steve Smith touchdown catch was amazing.
Holy cow - the Brady pass to Branch was great. This game is definitely picking up. It's better than the ads...
Wow, the last three minutes of the first half have been great!
Which is not what I can say abut the half time show - it's stupid.
Now - Jerry Jones, Bill Parcells and the pro football players singing "Tomorrow" was very funny. It wins my vote as best ad so far...
The Staples office supply-Godfather ad was pretty cute. It wouldn't have been in the running in past Super Bowls. But at this point, beggers can't be choosers.
Ah - the third erectile dysfunction ad of the game - Celias...All these hubba hubba happy couples. But no footballs zinging trough tires ...
The Honda Pilot-husband-raised-by-Wolves ad was amusing.
Oooh - Brady just threw an interception.
And the anti-tobacco alliance shardsoglass popsicle ad was good.
Four minutes to go, the score is 21-22 Panthers and the Patriots are driving. Now, this is an exciting game!
The Patriots just scored. They're gonna go for two...
And our bookclub just happens to be meeting at our house tonight. I hope everyone is 1/2 hour late.
New England scores on their two point conversion!
And now the Panthers are roaring down the field. My God, what a game...
And the Panthers score!!!!
And folks start arriving for book club. Augh!!!!! Let them entertain themselves
A huge mistake by Carolina - the kickoff goes out of bounds!
New England driving...driving...
Vinetieri kicks the winning field goal with 4 seconds left!!!!
Whatta Game!!!
The ads pretty much sucked but the game was fabulous!
