Aunt Jane, Uncle Tom, and my cousin Julia are in a town for a whirlwind visit prior to departing tomorrow on an Inside Passage Cruise.
The last time they were all up here was in the late summer of 1972 - definitely an eon ago. Hopefully, it won't be 32 years before the next visit!
We all had a great dinner last night at the Crow's Nest. Today, the crew did the Musuem, the Visitor's Center, Saturday Market, and the Native Heritage Center. I begged off and took a nap instead - heck I needed a nap just after hearing the itinerary. But this is a hard charging crew and they were still zooming along when they arrived at the Ski Boy et Slat Rat Manse for dinner at 6:00 PM.
Peter grilled a fabulous Copper River king salmon - definitely a masterpiece on the fish front.
Julia's husband Tom (a plethora of Toms in the family) arrived in from Dallas at 7:00 PM - just in time for dinner!
The gang leaves tomorrow morning at 6:45 AM on the first leg of their journey. They take the Alaska Railroad down to Seward where they board the ship. I am sooooooo glad I am not getting on a 6:45 AM train tomorrow morning!
Here we all are (except for Peter who was the photographer). From left to right: Tom, Julia, me, Lowell, Mom, Uncle Tom, Aunt Jane, and Clemmie in front.
