As, I type, my feet are soaking in ice water (mosquito bite treatment) and it is 75 degrees outside. Today's official high was 81 degrees. However, that 81 degrees was in the sea breezed cool part of town. A just a few miles inland the temperature was 90 plus degrees. Which might not seem hot to all you Outsiders, but we think it's brutal!!!

I can't wait to see what today's high is for the State - I'll bet it's in the mid-90's. And you all thought we were an ice berg state!!!!!

Yesterday afternoon, our boss booted all of us out of the office at Noon. Yippee!!!

Milissa, our new secretary, and I zoomed off for a sunny afternoon of Geocaching. We had a blast. This was Milissa's first time geocaching and she was an ace. Even though we spent a fair amount of time pawing through creek mud and being completely consumed by mosquitos.

The first cache, Quick and Easy was not so quick and easy for us. The overhead leaf canopy futzed with our GPS's and our coordinates were off by about twenty feet. Twenty very important feet. However, after about thirty minutes, Milissa spotted the totally fabulous cache. It was very cool and it was her first find!!!!

We then headed off to the mosquito breeding ground known as Earthquake Park for the second cache of day, Picture the Inlet. Even though this was cache was deep in the woods and the GPS readings were totally squirrelly, we managed to find it within about twenty five minutes - including the fifteen minute walk to get to the cache location. So we really only spent about ten minutes hunting for it. But those were a very nasty ten minutes - the mosquitos were unbelievable.

But even with those nasty 'skeeters, what a perfect way to spend a Friday afternoon!

Here's Milissa with her very first cache. And boy is it a totally spiffy cache!!!!!!

The second cache of the day - which has to be the most mosquito ridden place I've ever been. Thirty seconds after Milissa snapped this picture, the back of my shirt was black with mosquitos.

I also forgot to bring a sturdy pair of shoes with me - so I was wearing sandals with thin socks. Today my feet are a total disaster area - every area of my foot that was not covered by a sandal strap got nailed by mosquitos. On my left foot alone, I have twenty five mosquito bites. As I type, I'm soaking my feet in ice water in an attempt to throttle down the overwhelming itch.

Conference call on the Coastal Trail - not a bad office at all!

We finished up our mosquito ridden geocache just in time to make it out to the Coastal Trail for my daily 2:30 PM conference call.
