Yesterday's scorcher weather continued throughout the night. No one in our house got much sleep - it was just too hot and of course, we don't have air conditioning. Poor Clem - she just panted all night long and the bed shook in time to her panting.
However, this morning, the temperature dropped almost twenty degrees and the interior forest fire haze moved in. There is a universal bronze glow - the light is very odd.

We are at the height of the lilac season. I am convinced that Anchorage must have the best lilacs around - a perfect combintion of cool climate and tons and tons of light.
The lilac bush in our yard is one of the biggest ones I've ever seen - it's ginormous. As a result, our cul de sac has a delightful lilac aroma.
Lilacs in the morning sun.

The fuschias LOVE the Ski Boy. He faithfully waters them everyday!
Fuschias also do extremely well up here. They love the light and are happy that it doesn't get too hot (this past week non-withstanding).
