Today, my picture is on the front page the Daily News' Metro Section. Of course, I'm not looking very serious. Nope, I'm a Flying Pig - one of several actually.
Yesterday was the Alaska Ski for Women or, as it should have been titled, the Alaska Walk for Women. Due to the dirth of snow, we walked instead of skied.
GCI fielded a team of hearty Flying Pigs. Our latest marketing campaign features flying pigs, so Marketing felt that we should be pigs. And by God, we were pretty darn cute pigs. Benita made our hats and Linda had Alaska Serigraphics scour the US for baby pink vests. Of course, it was 10 degrees with a very brisk north wind. As a result, we were a bunch of bundled up, very fat appearing pigs.
The very spiffy newspaper picture would be displayed below, but the Daily News seems to have posting problems this morning. Hopefully, the picture will be posted tonight and I can put it on my blog.
UPDATE: Here's the picture and the caption:
The GCI team, "The Flying Pigs," marches to the starting line at the Kincaid stadium area. The ninth annual Ski For Women was turned into a noncompetitive walk because of a lack of snow.
