I'm in the process of shopping for a new laptop. I really want to go the custom route - top notch components, good looking etc. The downfall is of course, cost. The custom PC that is that the top of my list is the Voodoo Envy m380.

But my little Voodoo m380 has a significant drawback - price. It is very very expensive.

So, I thought I should look at mass produced models to see how the comparable price/component/performance ratio works out. My first stop was Hewlett Packard. As I was typing in their URL, I wondered if the website would give any indication of this week's management shakeup. I doubted it would, but I was curious. Well, guess what? Right there, on the home page, very nicely presented was a section entitled "Change" and it linked to the latest news on HP's executive situation.

I was impressed. That's the way to run a business. Be up front.

Well - I've been thumped hard by some nasty little respiratory bug. It has the distinct tone of deep bronchitis with a plugged up head added on as an afterthought. Fortunately, us asthma folks have quite the pharmacopia for situations such as these. So, pnuemonia won't be coming my way. But man - what a way to waste a weekend. And at this point in the game, actually crawling into work tomorrow seems quite iffy.
