Westchester Lagoon has its very own beaver!!!!! I'd heard rumors of said beaver a few years ago, but hadn't seen him or signs of him. However, while Tyge and I were walking around the east end of the lagoon, we almost tripped over a very obvious sign - it might have well said, "A Beaver Was Here!".
A young healthy tree was down in the water. And the stump had the signature pointy top indicating a beaver gnawed that puppy down.
Better yet, this morning, while Tyge and I were out for our morning constitutional, we spotted the beaver in the water at our end (west end) of the Lagoon. At first I thought he was the muskrat, but he was much bigger - big square head and a really big butt that he mooned at me when he dove down under the water's surface.
Here's the downed tree:

Pointy stumps. Some of these were obviously gnawed down last year. I just wasn't looking closely enough!
