It looks like Philadelphia is a go, which may be a logistical problem. I’ve been looking through the train schedules to find additional options.
- Drive 77 miles from North Edison, one hour/day?
- Drive 60 miles from Atlantic City, plus two dollar parking/day, plus phone service; 2h/day?
- $56 weekly rail from Atlantic City, not including local transport, 3-3.5h/d, but reading/sleeping time.
- $51 weekly rail from N. Edison, plus transfer to SEPTA, plus local transport, 3.5-4h/d, but reading/sleeping time.
- Beg bosses to take me off; alternatively, screw up miserably and get taken off.
- Amtrak, expensive but 40min if I time it right.
I owe, I owe,
so consulting I will go:
you gotta work to pay your bills,
I owe, I owe, heigh ho, I owe.

Angry White Girl on NJ driving. Strong language, but essentially correct. By way of Adam Curry.
Jughandles: for some reason, other states don’t get these. My Virginia cousin got the hang of them, but had trouble at first. I could not understand the U-Turn lanes in California.
It’s funny that she mentions this, but right after Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, as I was driving home, I was imagining the other flying scene, the dogfight above Naboo, as I dodged around the red lights of the cars.
She doesn’t mention the high high high insurance rates. Several administrations have failed to deal with this issue, basically caused by legislation forcing insurers that deal in this state to adhere to ridiculous constraints.
Nor does she mention the motley crews that go down to the shore on summer weekends. Buses and stretch limos to Atlantic City.
Myself? Twenty-nine years in Nova Cæsarea. Exit 131 off the GSP since 1975. Before that, exit 143. Or something.

Linked from the NEC ResearchIndex (the former CiteSeer: a great resource, especially since I’m no longer connected to the ACM Digital Library) is NewsSeer, what looks like a news aggregator. As if I didn’t waste enough time already.
