ACCUSATION: Allen Iverson, Philadelphia 76ers

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Inquirer reports two men have filed a police report alleging that 76ers star Allen Iverson barged into a West Philadelphia apartment, armed with a gun, looking for his wife and cousin, according to sources. Police are still determining whether the incident actually happened. Iverson has not been charged or arrested.

MURDER UPDATE: Omain "Fats" Gullette, Syracuse football recruit

PHILADELPHIA – New York Times reports the police are not sure what happened, what the motive for the shooting was or who did it, but they say they have no evidence that Omain "Fats" Gullette, a Syracuse football recruit, was involved in any trouble before being killed in an honest-to-God hail of gunfire.

ARRESTED: Sean Sonderleiter, Iowa basketball player

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Des Moines Register reports Iowa basketball player Sean Sonderleiter was charged with possession of marijuana Wednesday near Carver-Hawkeye Arena after being stopped for running a stop sign. The arrest is the sixth drug or alcohol arrest of an Iowa player in the last nine months.

SENTENCED: Herbert John Derungs, impersonator

SAN FRANCISCO – Associated Press reports a man who impersonated two major league shortstops to obtain bats to sell on eBay has been sentenced to 21 months in federal prison.

ARRESTED: Big Van Vander, professional wrestler

BOULDER, Colo. – Boulder Daily Camera reports professional wrestler Leon Allen White, a.k.a Big Van Vader, 47, was arrested Monday night on suspicion of spitting and threatening officers with rocks, resisting arrest, drinking and driving, careless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

ARRESTED: Richard Bortkevich, accused counterfeiter

ATLANTA – Atlanta Journal reports federal agents surrounded the son of former Olympic gold medalist Olga Korbut in Gwinnett County on Monday and arrested him on counterfeiting charges. Evidence links the gymnast's son, Richard Bortkevich, to more than $35,000 in phony money found inside an upscale Duluth home once owned by Korbut and her ex-husband, said Bill Creel, assistant special agent in charge of the Atlanta field office.

TROUBLED PROGRAM: Northern Arizona University

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Nearly one-fourth of the players on last year's Northern Arizona University football team have been arrested and convicted of recent crimes, according to computer criminal database research by The Arizona Republic.

LITIGATION: Bobby O. Curry, former high school coach

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Associated Press reports the mother of a girl who had a sex with a former coach at Forsyth Country Day School has sued, contending the school should have known the coach had a history of sex with minors.

LITIGATION: Louis Cioffi, former high school AD

Averill Park, N.Y. – Troy Record reports a whistleblower lawsuit seeking more than $4 million in damages and fines has been filed against the Averill Park Central School District in U.S. District Court by its former athletic director. Louis Cioffi charges he was reassigned unfairly after telling his version of a hazing event.

CONFESSION: Jan Ullrich, German cyclist

FRANKFURT – Reuters reports top German cyclist Jan Ullrich, who tested positive for an amphetamine, said on Saturday he accepted the result and admitted taking "pills" while out the night before the test.

BANKROLLING: Saeco, Italian coffee machine maker

LUXEMBOURG – Reuters reports Italian coffee machine maker Saeco, which is barred from this year's Tour de France after its team leader Gilberto Simoni failed two drugs tests, says there is a strong chance they will take over the Mapei-Quick Step team, who last week announced they would end their sponsorship of the world's largest professional cycling team.
