ON ICE: Ted Williams

BOSTON -- Stripped of any chance for a dignified burial, Boston Globe reports the body of the ballplayer rests in a cryonic warehouse in Scottsdale, Ariz. If this is what Ted Williams wanted, he never told anyone.

ARRESTED: Steve DeBerg, former NFL QB

TAMPA, Fla. – Associated Press reports former NFL quarterback Steve DeBerg was arrested over the weekend and charged with driving under the influence. He was also arrested for DUI in New York in 1996, when he was a coach for the New York Giants.

ARRESTED: Norberto Arroyo, Jr., jockey

WEST HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Thoroughbred Times reports Jockey Norberto Arroyo Jr., who currently rides at Belmont Park, was arrested by Nassau County, New York, police on Friday on three charges of felony assault. Police claim Arroyo put a man in intensive care after assaulting him with a pool cue on June 9.

FAILED DRUG TESTS: French Open

PARIS -- Associated Press reports two unidentified players failed drug tests at the French Open, France's Council to Prevent and Fight Doping reported Monday. One player tested positive for a banned stimulant, the other for a restricted local anesthetic, an official at CPLD said, speaking on the traditional condition of anonymity.

NOT PRESENT: Ron Monteilh, Colorado football player

BOULDER, Colo. – Daily Camera reports Ron Monteilh will not be present for his second University of Colorado Office of Judicial Affairs meeting this morning because his attorney says the board is "making up their own rules as they go along." Monteilh is accused of breaking the school's code of conduct because of his alleged involvement with an off-campus party high school recruits attended in December.

MALPRACTICE TRIAL BEGINS: Stephen Lucie, former Jacksonville team doctor

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville Times Union reports a malpractice trial against former Jacksonville Jaguars team doctor Stephen Lucie begins today. Former Jaguars lineman Jeff Novak claims Lucie acted negligently in clearing him to play.
