BANNED: Wayne Gordon, former Olympic boxing coach

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia -- Associated Press reports one of Canada's leading amateur boxing coaches has been suspended for the second time in less than a year for alleged inappropriate conduct, this time involving a female athlete. Wayne Gordon, a two-time coach with Canada's Olympic team, was given a four-year ban.

PLEA BARGAIN: Ed Martin, Michigan basketball booster

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan Daily reports banned Michigan basketball booster Ed Martin entered a guilty plea Wednesday to charges he made money from an illegal gambling conspiracy and laundered it to former Michigan basketball players Chris Webber, Robert Traylor, Maurice Taylor and Louis Bullock to conceal substantial amounts of cash. The loans were kept secret by the players and their families.

PLEA BARGAIN: Cliff Robinson, Detroit Pistons

PHOENIX -- Associated Press reports former Phoenix Suns player Cliff Robinson pleaded guilty Wednesday to a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge. Robinson, who was traded to the Detroit Pistons following his February 2001 arrest, was sentenced to 12 months of probation. As part of the plea, a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was dropped.

PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia Daily News reports police are recommending about 10 charges be filed against Allen Iverson, including simple and aggravated assault, terroristic threats and various firearms offenses that include carrying a gun without a permit.

BITTER: Lisa Sealy, grieving widow

MINNEAPOLIS -- Dan Barreio of Minneapolis Star Tribune reports Lisa Sealy, widow of former NBA player Malik Sealy, continues to feel hurt and abandoned two years after the 30-year-old Malik died in a car crash returning from a birthday party for Kevin Garnett.

ARRESTED: Daniel Davis, Kansas State University

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- The Kansas State Collegian reports a fifth K-State football player in one month was arrested Monday. Daniel Davis, a junior running back, was arrested for two counts of failure to appear for a 90-day jail sentence.

MIAMI -- Miami Herald reports former University of Miami football player Mike Rumph was arrested early Saturday on Miami Beach and charged with drunk driving. Rumph is the second ex-Hurricane to be arrested in a week.

DENIAL: Najeh Davenport, Green Bay Packers

MIAMI -- Packersnews.com reports The attorney for Green Bay Packers fullback Najeh Davenport said Tuesday that the rookie is “humiliated” by his arrest on charges that he broke into a university dormitory and defecated into a laundry basket in a woman’s closet. The attorney said Davenport denied the allegations.
