Clocks ... wonderful, beautiful clocks!

PBS aired a fantastic Frontline on China last night that traces recently economic and social changes. Is there a time bomb in place, is the country on its way to democracy or is something else afoot.

Rather than dealing with this questions globally, China in the Red follows a few people over the last few years as fundamental change is taking place. A riveting show with an astonishingly interesting soundtrack.

Watch it! Some PBS stations offer encore presentations and PBS will make provide an online version of the show later today.

Now this is just weird ...

A decade ago an English professor in Idaho set up a company that did personal love poems to spec as well as personal biographies. In a radio interview he characterized the biographies as somewhat fictional, but a great opportunity for the employment of English majors.

Wednesday's mention of Duck and Cover got a large response.

Try this for another series of Duck and Cover movies - this one pays particular attention to biological warfare.

Going back to the 40s, there is the Mickey Mouse gas mask for kids.

Times haven't changed - we seem to be getting the same message.
