I'm on the edge of my feet
Feed a cold, starve for pizza
I'm an Aquarium
Fly like the beagle
Is a bear catholic?
The other night we were talking about Kellyisms - bizarre twists to language applied by Christina Applegate to her character. Great stuff - it would be nice to be adroit enough to come up with these on the fly.

One of my goals is to tour the country with Doug Kirby and his gang. Roadsideamerica remains one of my favorite sites of all times. The Wisconsin Dells Hypertour is old, but is an excellent introduction to the site.

Of course cruising with net would be nice (at least for the passenger). Lots of people have been doing formation driving for a few years (I've done it as a passenger in a group of three cars on Interstate 78 in New Jersey - we had a streaming radio station going and had email and web capability, although we weren't connecting with the Internet proper as we drove - my box ran the mail server:)
Now we see a serious drive taking place later this month.
I'm really amazed that more rest stops and gas stations on the Interstate highway system aren't access points. It could be great advertising for someone who wanted to do a sponsor-net and a great way for people to get messages and photos out on their trips. I would imagine people might pay for it, but I haven't seen a WiFi service that is worth paying for yet.

How about a 2 GB keychain drive? Maybe not quite - the form factor is a bit wrong and the performance is really awful for something this expensive. But if you really need the latest gadget ...
You can get much more storage in something very portable with this nifty LaCie drive and Apple iPods make dandy firewire storage devices in addition to great mp3 players.
As Larry points out Being on the trailing edge can be even more fun. Some of this stuff is overpriced, but there is a real thrill making things from the past work again.

NetNewsWire Lite, the free version of the best rss newsreader around, has been significantly improved.
The paid version (about $30) is better (particularly if you publish a blog), but casual users can't go wrong with the Lite version.

It isn't clear to me that a long duration UAV makes sense - a large number of conventional UAVs might be much less expensive to operate.
This is the first time I've seen a quantum nucleonic reactor mentioned as a power source for an airplane.
Nuclear reactors have flown in the past. A megawatt reactor flew in a highly modified B36 in the 1950s, but this was to test the effects of radition on an airframe as part of a nuclear powered airplane research effort. (a megawatt is less than 1500 horsepower, so this was only a small fraction of what it would take to fly the airplane).
