A picture named War crime.jpg The deliberate targeting of ambulances with precision bombs is a war crime.
Indiscriminate attacks on civilians are war crimes.
Independent: "An attack on a hospital, the killing of an entire Lebanese family, the seizure of five men in Baalbek and a new civilian death toll - 468 men, women and children - marked the 22nd day of Israel's latest war on Lebanon."

HRW: "Israeli forces have systematically failed to distinguish between combatants and civilians in their military campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon, Human Rights Watch said in report released today. The pattern of attacks in more than 20 cases investigated by Human Rights Watch researchers in Lebanon indicates that the failures cannot be dismissed as mere accidents and cannot be blamed on wrongful Hezbollah practices. In some cases, these attacks constitute war crimes."

Haaretz: "Survivors of the Nazi death camp at Auschwitz appealed Thursday for peace in the Middle East, saying the fighting creates hate and 'threatens humanity'."

The GOP is a party for and by criminals. The number of convicted felons in the Republican party is high. And their cheating and lying continues; it seems to be their policy.
AmericaBlog: "Tom DeLay is still a GOP candidate for Congress. The king of corruption still represents the GOP."

ReviewJournal: "A campaign mailer sent to Democrats over the weekend said it was from a political action committee called Searchlight. But it didn't have anything to do with Sen. Harry Reid, who heads the Washington, D.C.-based Searchlight Leadership Fund.
Quite the opposite: The mailer listing judicial candidates came from officials with the Clark County Republican Party.
Democrats on Monday called the flier an attempt to deceive Democratic voters. But the Republicans behind it said it was just a bit of harmless fun and did not violate any rules."

But much worse than the above is the murderous ideology of the neocons.
IHT: "Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has pressed Congress to refine the definition of war crimes prohibited under the Geneva Conventions, as the Bush administration and lawmakers continue to debate the rules for treatment and trials of terrorism suspects."
In short, Gonzales wants permission to torture.

FPIF: "Back in 1996, few anticipated that The War Crimes Act, which entered law as 18 USC Sec. 2441, would have the potential to boomerang and hit the United States itself.
This statute was one of many in the mid-1990s devoted to the principle of extraterritoriality: the extension of U.S. laws to other countries. When applied, such laws subject foreign nationals to prosecution if they treat a U.S. citizen or U.S. property in a way that violates U.S. laws.

So far, the administration is stubbornly staying the course on its designation of Guantanamo prisoners as 'unlawful combatants' and therefore not entitled to the protections of the Geneva Conventions. However, under fire from allies and U.S. civil rights groups, President Bush has directed that prisoners be accorded the same rights and humane treatment specified in the Conventions. Should the White House ever comply fully with the Supreme Court's decision, the abuses committed by U.S. personnel during interrogation may become fewer and less severe.

Until then, those who are charged with violating international standards of conduct will remain in the hands of those who don't recognize international standards of conduct."

So, America wants total control even of other sovereign countries, but does not accept any responsibility. Evil incorporated.

EUObserver: "The European Commission has rebuffed a call by the Polish president for an EU-wide debate on reinstating the death penalty.
'The death penalty is not compatible with European values,' a commission spokesman said in Brussels on Wednesday (2 August)."

Is Poland becoming a fascist state?
Anti-semitism, homophobia and bigotry are the hallmark of the new Poland. The same developments can be seen in Latvia and other eastern European countries.

As an antidote to all the violence in this world, here is a post from good old Doug with high mush content (the pictures that is, not Doug).
