What will the neocons do when the catastrophe hits them, when the backlash comes home and the empire is toppled?
Finding a shelter, a safe haven is of the essence. The first Americans are already looking for a shelter from war and terrorism, civil unrest and crime, Big Brother, disaster and tax burdens.

ShelterFromTheStorm: "If the Vice-President's relentless push for a new war against Iran succeeds, and oil prices skyrocket to two or three times the previous record, with a resulting collapse of the dollar, it won't be the Cheneys who suffer.
When you see the president of the bank headed out the door with one hand holding a satchel full of cash and the other his family pictures, it might be time to make a withdrawal yourself."

ThePhoenix: "Prediction: Before leaving office, President Bush will issue a shockingly large number of presidential pardons to operatives who, with the administration's blessing, ventured far outside the law to wage Bush's 'war on terror'. Bush may even owe some of his underlings use of the pardon pen, since they relied in good faith on radical legal opinions crafted by White House lawyers to justify an anything goes response to enemies real and imagined.
Pardons will be the only effective device by which Bush can give absolute protection to his underlings. Otherwise they may face prosecution under a new administration."

It has always been my intention with this blog not to get as large an audience as possible, but to get as close to the truth as possible, even when it is an uncomfortable truth. So I hope you will bear with me and consider some facts about Israel and its history. For too long Europe has been silent on the war crimes committed by Israel, maybe because of a huge sense of guilt for the Holocaust. But there comes a moment when we have to break the silence and that is when the victims of the past are becoming the tyrants of today. Just look at the facts.

While Israeli warplanes roar over Lebanon and scientists suspect Israeli arms used in the South of Lebanon contain radioactive material the Israelis are destroying their credibility among the international community.

AlterNet: "What would we be saying if Hizbullah kidnapped the Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and launched a daring raid inside Israel to disrupt a U.S. effort to resupply the Israeli Defense Force? We would be up in arms over their provocation and would be convening the UN Security Council to recommend new sanctions. Hell, we'd probably have the National Security Council in session and be ready to dispatch U.S. military forces to help Israel.
Now we have the spectacle of Hizbullah acting with statesmanship and restraint while the Israelis destroy their credibility among the international community."

DailyMail: "The alliance between George Bush and Tony Blair is in danger after it was revealed that the Prime Minister believes the President has 'let him down badly' over the Middle East crisis.
A senior Downing Street source said that, privately, Mr Blair broadly agrees with John Prescott, who said Mr Bush's record on the issue was 'crap'.
The source said: 'We all feel badly let down by Bush. We thought we had persuaded him to take the Israel-Palestine situation seriously, but we were wrong. How can anyone have faith in a man of such low intellect?'"

It's not only the Angry Arab who is angry, but Israel is increasingly seen in the West as a terrorist state that has no intention of living peacefully with its neighbours.

Hezbollah has been dubbed a 'terrorist' organisation. It is not. Defending one's own country is not terrorism.
Finkelstein: "Supporters and critics alike have long acknowledged that Hezbollah is the most effective welfare provider in Lebanon - far more effective than the state.
Secular organizations and other religious institutions, including many that have long opposed Hezbollah's political and military role in Lebanon, view the organization as a legitimate and effective partner in the current relief operations.

Israel's attacks - ostensibly aimed at disbanding Hezbollah and inducing an anti-Hezbollah backlash in Lebanese society - have instead bolstered the organization's domestic influence. The deaths of more than a thousand Lebanese civilians and Israel's destruction of Lebanon's new infrastructure, rebuilt at great expense in the 1990s after the civil war, have produced deep and lasting resentment against Israel in all of Lebanon's communities. What's more, Lebanon's pro-Western elite feels abandoned by the United States and will struggle to maintain a pro-Western line.

Hezbollah, it should be recalled, emerged during Israel's 1982 invasion of Lebanon and gained legitimacy not only through military feats but also through reconstruction and development work."

Israel seems to be trapped in a psychological need to re-enact the past.
The state of Israel was created by terror. And it continues its terror.
Here's an Encyclopedia of the Palestine Problem.
