The 'thwarted plot' has the characteristics of a psyop.
It involves a search and 'safety' operation on a very large scale. Businesses and houses are being searched in different parts of England. 24 People have been arrested and are being 'questioned', to indicate this is bloody serious. But it is alleged several suspects escaped, among which the leader; this to indicate the continued threat and seriousness. Airports were put on highest alert. Passengers were affected in huge numbers and very deeply. In short, the works.
Note that there will be no delays in weapons transports to Israel via the UK.

So what can a government do to create an atmosphere of fear and chaos, and maybe make the citizen (feel) more vulnerable to terrorist attacks? They can disrupt air traffic so that huge crowds are stranded and gathered in one place, the perfect target for terrorists.
They can also increase the risk by dumping all liquids and gels in the same container, as we were told that mixing those liquids or gels could set off an explosion.
Two possibilities: either the new safety regulations are bogus and the security people know that there is no threat at all from the passenger's liquids and gels, which would allow them to dump everything together, or they really believe there is a threat and in this case the new regulations are moronic and could create a serious safety threat (kind of 'dirty bomb' cocktail).

It does not add up. The whole operation smells like a psyop intended to instill fear in the people and induce them to accept new military adventures in the Middle East.
This is how it works: you spy on one of the many groups of hotheaded youngsters, you get some unconfirmed 'information' from abroad about 'plans' and stuff, and then you bust them and present them as full-blooded terrorists. Later you have to release them because there is no proof. So you try to change the laws so that you can bust anyone for anything without trial.

Infoshop: "Around 20 Israeli anarchists today blockaded the entrance to Ramat David air force base in the north of the country, from which fighter planes have been taking off to bombing missions in Lebanon."

Yahoo: "Israeli troops detained about 350 Lebanese soldiers and police in Marjayoun after capturing the town on Thursday, Lebanon's interior minister said."

LATimes: "Israeli bombing has knocked out irrigation canals supplying Litani River water to more than 10,000 acres of farmland and 23 villages in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, prompting accusations here that Israel is using its war against Hezbollah to lay claim to Lebanon's prime watersheds.
Heavy fighting and a series of targeted strikes on open water channels and underground water diversion pipes have suspended much of Lebanon's agricultural use of the Litani River along the coastal plain and in parts of the Bekaa Valley near Qaraoun Dam, said water engineers who have surveyed the south."

Meanwhile, the killing continues.

ChristianScienceMonitor: "Even as Israel continues to pound Beirut's southern suburbs, and agreed Wednesday on plans to expand its four-week-old offensive as far as 18 miles into southern Lebanon, many here increasingly blame the US for its extensive military and political support for the Jewish state."

Reuters: "Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said the United States and the West were losing credibility in the Middle East because they were dragging their feet on a ceasefire in Lebanon between Israel and Hizbollah guerrillas."

FPIF: "The Bush administration's unconditional support for Israel's attacks on Lebanon is emblematic of the profound tragedy of U.S. policy in the region over the past five years. The administration has relied largely on force rather than diplomacy. It has shown a willingness to violate international legal norms, a callousness regarding massive civilian casualties, a dismissive attitude toward our closest allies whose security interests we share, and blatant double standards on UN Security Council resolutions, non-proliferation issues, and human rights. A broad consensus of moderate Arabs, Middle East scholars, independent security analysts, European leaders, and others have recognized how - even putting important moral and legal issues aside - such policies have been a disaster for the national security interests of the United States and other Western nations. These policies have only further radicalized the region and increased support for Hezbollah and other extremists and supporters of terrorism."

Fouad Siniora, Prime Minister of Lebanon in The Washington Post: "A military solution to Israel's savage war on Lebanon and the Lebanese people is both morally unacceptable and totally unrealistic. We in Lebanon call upon the international community and citizens everywhere to support my country's sovereignty and end this folly now. We also insist that Israel be made to respect international humanitarian law, including the provisions of the Geneva Conventions, which it has repeatedly and willfully violated."

Ynet: "Israel could be destroying Lebanon while leaving the guerrilla group Hizbullah intact, Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja said on Thursday. Tuomioja also said it was very frustrating that it was so difficult to reach agreement on a ceasefire, because the Europeans never believed there was a military solution to the conflict in Lebanon, now in its fifth week."

By the way, did you know that the US gets as much out of the UN as it gives?
IPS: "The United States, which pays 22 percent of the U.N.'s regular annual budget of 1.8 billion dollars, has arrogantly demanded a dominant voice in management and administration - primarily because it is the biggest single financial contributor to the world body.
According to the latest figures released by the U.N., the United States has consistently held the number one spot in grabbing U.N. procurement contracts, averaging over 22.5 percent of all U.N. purchases annually.
'On a cost-benefit ratio, the United States gets as much - or even more - than what it gives to the United Nations', says one senior U.N. official who deals with procurement."

AnotherDayInTheEmpire: "Unable to window dress the obvious failure to eradicate growing resistance in Lebanon, Iraq, and Afghanistan - even with the mighty propaganda power of a complaisant media - the neocon intelligence apparatus has staged yet another terrorist event, or would be terrorist event.

In the coming hours and days, we can expect the corporate media, eager stenographers for the neocon plan, to connect the dots - blame will be affixed to Iran, Syria, and their 'proxy', Hezbollah, through 'al-Qaeda', now dedicated (or scripted) to help Hezbollah, not that the homegrown resistance group needs any help, especially from a CIA-ISI engineered terror group.

Finally, as attention has now shifted to Muslim bad guys (either imagined or a parade of patsies), Israel will likely increase the severity of its criminal behavior against the civilians of Lebanon and those of Gaza as well, as the American public will be navel gazing video footage of inconvenienced air travel passengers."

Very conveniently to give the journalists the slip and duck responsibility, Tony Blair is on holiday.
The news of the plot comes at a very convenient time for Blair, who was under severe attack in his own party.

Nether-World: "It didn't take very long after Blair's departure for his rebellious MPs to start coming out of the woodwork. 24 hours into John Prescott's tenure as acting Prime Minister, we have one resignation (so far) and up to 150 MPs demanding a recall of Parliament as the situation in Lebanon gets significantly worse after the draft UN resolution (that Blair tells us he postponed his holiday to achieve) collapses."

Time: "In these perilous days, we must be ready to think the unthinkable. No, I don't mean the possibility of a catastrophic terrorist attack. After 9/11, that's all too easy to imagine. No, I'm talking about a thought that even now seldom forces its way into respectable conversation: the quite reasonable suspicion that the Bush Administration orchestrates its terror alerts and arrests to goose the GOP's poll numbers."

What can we expect from leaders who are notorious liars and killers? And have you ever heard of liquid or gel explosives? I know that Coca Cola and Pepsi are dangerous.
Chron: "Two more Indian states banned the sale of Coca-Cola and PepsiCo soft drinks at government-run schools and colleges over allegations they contain high levels of pesticides."

By the way, Homeland Security wants you to clean your Windows.
ArsTechnica: "The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) yesterday issued an unusual press release urging Windows users to apply a specific security patch from Microsoft, patch MS06-040.
Because the DHS warning was so unusual, it has prompted some wild talk that the Microsoft security patch is, in reality, a government surveillance tool designed to spy on Windows users around the world."
It's just part of the agitprop by the war pimps.
My advice to you, buy a Mac.
