Summer: Sun, Fun, and the SAT Exam
What better way to spend the summer than by studying for the SAT exam? That’s exactly what thirty-seven students are doing out in my classroom for the next two weeks. This is now the fifth year that we’ve offered this summer SAT prep class, and for the first time, we had to actually turn away students. Over forty showed up this morning, but we only have resources for just under that. I felt bad about asking some to leave, though I did warn my students to pre-register for this class before the school year let out just in case something like this happened. Those who did got their seats.
Now I promised the students who will be with me this summer that I would post links to SAT, college, and career resources here on my site. They will be found to the left under “Sites that will make you a better person.” Click on “SAT Resources” to find those links. Or here.
For those of you just dabbling in the whole SAT thing, try out the SAT question of the day. Quick, painless, and sometimes humbling.
Or for those of you who are just sick of the whole college entrance exam thing, read the story of one guy who set out to answer every question wrong on the SAT. On purpose. Now that might sound easy at first, but think about all those questions you that you have no clue about on the SAT. The ones that you'd have to guess on to maybe get right. Well, just think how hard it would be on those questions to correctly guess wrong every single time. Not so easy, huh? Read his story and find out how he did it.
