White House Responds to AWOL Allegations
It must be especially hard for the left to stomach now that it's becoming common knowledge that their leading contender, "war hero" John Kerry consorted with Hanoi Jane Fonda, threw someone else's medals (he couldn't bear to part with his own) over the White House fence in a VietNam war protest, and testified against U.S. veterans in Congress. [democrats give conservatives indigestion]
Fasten your seatbelts kiddies, it's going to be a bumpy ride! CP

GWB: HBS MBA
The comparatively small amount of attention paid by the political press to the President’s Harvard MBA partially reflects a generalized ignorance of, and hostility toward, the degree itself. More importantly, acknowledging that he learned any valuable intellectual perspectives would contradict the storyline that young W was a party animal, who coasted through his elite education, scarcely cracking a book. In other words, as the left never tires of claiming, he is too “stupid” to have picked up any tricks across the Charles River from Harvard Square.
This is patently incorrect. Having attended Harvard Business School at the same time as the President, graduating from the two-year program a year after he did, and then serving on its faculty after a year’s interval spent writing a PhD thesis, I am intimately familiar with the rigors of the program at the time, and the miniscule degree of slack cut for even the most well-connected students, when their performance did not make the grade.

Lies And Slander
But they just let it go and say that they have a right to have their opinions and that Mr. Bush has to answer this charge. Well Mr. Bush answered this slander in the 2000 elections. So did George magazine, which did a brilliant job of investigating this whole matter on Oct. 10, 2000. They - and the New York Times as well - found the charge to be bogus - that the president indeed did serve his time. Yes, he did take time off to get involved in a senate campaign in Alabama but then made up the time and was given an honorable discharge - something they don't give to people who haven't lived up to their obligations.[American RealPolitik]

Loyal Opposition
But if you truly “support the troops,” the proper time to express your opposition to the conflict is before the onset of hostilities. Because once the missiles start flying, your pubicly expressed dissent can and will be manipulated as propaganda by the enemy, and worse, can cause serious damage to the troops’ morale.
During my recent deployment to the Middle East, I received numerous letters and emails expressing support for our efforts, but not everyone was quite so positive. Some people actually wrote to tell me that they “supported me,” but went on to rant that I was merely a “pawn” in a game that I "couldn’t understand,” and other such patronizing nonsense. That’s the kind of "support" that I can do without, thank you very much.

Amen! This Viet Nam vet remembers how demoralizing it was to know that we were just sitting there doing nothing when we all knew we could kick some major butt and go home any time we wanted. And why couldn't we do the job in a day and go home? .... because our government was intimidated by the hippies at home! Thanks a lot people for causing the death of thousands over there. Americans are stupid!
The truth is that Americans are a very wise and sophisticated people who very often affect a folksy style -- such as the style we see the high-achieving President George W. Bush or in the incredibly high-achieving investor Warren Buffett. But the REALLY stupid people are those who cannot see past the folksy style to the hard-working, dedicated, careful-thinking people beneath it. Only people as stupid as most Europeans could mistake style for substance. Really smart people would try to understand Americans rather than condemn them for having their own ways. They would see the folksiness as a sign of a less elitist and more democratic society rather than as a sign of stupidity. [Dissecting Leftism]

Putting Bush-Kerry poll numbers in perspective.
Are the results worrisome? Sure.
Are the results predictable? Yes. Most incumbents have a rough patch when their challenger is introduced, and the Bush team has warned all along that this is likely.
Are they predictive of the electoral result this November? No, and there are four (4) reasons why these numbers may have no bearing at all on reality in November 2004. [NRO]

The Universal Democratic Underground Thread
I don't think there is a single blog out there I read that hasn't at least once linked to Democratic... [IMAO]
I could never figure the fascination with the DU site. All I ever saw was Bush Sucks, Bush lies, Bush stole the election, Bush is Hitler, ...etc.
That got old for me real quick so I stopped wasting time going there. The fascination seemed to continue for other as never a day goes by that I don't see it linked to. I see someone has finally said they feel the same as I do about it.
It was cute for a day or two at the beginning but come on people.....let it go! CP

PRESIDENTIAL LEADERSHIP
How President Bush is smarter than the intellectuals who disdain him.
When intellectuals tell me how much they hate President Bush and how stupid they think he is, I know that he excelled at the crucial form of learning whose importance I didn't fully appreciate when I was in college. It sank in only years later as I watched people in business do wonders by drawing on their personal relationships, much as scientists do wonders by marshaling knowledge that is more abstract. This focus on personal relationships may be the key to the president's success--and to why so many intellectuals disdain him.
I've always had the suspicion that GWB was not as dumb as the liberals try to convince everyone that he is. CP
