For those of you with short memories.

The Right War for the Right Reasons

It was President Clinton who, in February 1998, posed the critical question: "What if [Saddam] fails to comply and we fail to act, or we take some ambiguous third route, which gives him yet more opportunities to develop this program of weapons of mass destruction. . . . Well, he will conclude that the international community has lost its will. He will then conclude that he can go right on and do more to rebuild an arsenal of devastating destruction. And some day, some way, I guarantee you he'll use this arsenal." "In the next century," Clinton predicted, "the community of nations may see more and more of the very kind of threat Iraq poses now--a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction, ready to use them or provide them to terrorists . . . who travel the world among us unnoticed."

My mom says she would never vote for a Republican, because "Republicans hate people." I am a quasi-Republican, but I love my mom -- and I was a bit concerned by her theory. Was I in danger of becoming yet...

Warning: If you like your politics mealymouthed — stay away! John Podhoretz has written a tough, shrewd, don’t-give-an-inch defense of George W. Bush that should give the president’s critics heartburn, or maybe a heart attack.

Would you like some surrender-monkey cheese with that whine?

Face it folks. The Left is out to send this country into the depths of hell if we do not do something. For all you "conservatives" who have been whining about Bush acting too much like a democrat, you know, the ones that are spewing the "I'm not going to vote mantra". The ones that think he spends too much, wants illegals to come on in, yadda yadda yadda...I have this to say:

Let me tell you that if that is your way of thinking then you will have deserved all the shit the Liberals will throw at you if they win.

Go ahead and sit on your whining ass and just throw that vote away. Go ahead and sit with your head in your hands and whine.... might as well practice it cause you are really gonna need to know how to do it when the Dims get through with you.

Just because you don't agree with the President on all the issues does not mean you should just toss this election in the trashcan. [democrats give conservatives indigestion]

Why Are Academics on the Left?

The hegemony of the Left over the universities is so overwhelming that not even Leftists deny it. Whether the institution is public or private, a community college or an Ivy League campus, you can with absolute confidence predict that the curriculum will be suffused with themes such as:

  • capitalism is inherently unjust, dehumanizing, and impoverishing;
  • socialism, whatever its practical failures, is motivated by the highest ideals and that its luminaries -- especially Marx -- have much to teach us;
  • globalization hurts the poor of the Third World;
  • natural resources are being depleted at an alarming rate and that human industrial activity is an ever-increasing threat to "the environment";
  • most if not all psychological and behavioral differences between men and women are "socially constructed" and that male-female differences in income, representation in various professions, and the like are mostly the result of "sexism";
  • the pathologies of the underclass in the United States are due to racism and that the pathologies of the Third World are due to the lingering effects of colonialism;
  • Western civilization is uniquely oppressive, especially to women and "people of color," and that its products are spiritually inferior to those of non-Western cultures;
  • traditional religious belief, especially of the Christian sort, rests on ignorance of modern scientific advances, cannot today be rationally justified, and persists on nothing more than wishful thinking;
  • traditional moral scruples, especially regarding sex, also rest on superstition and ignorance and have no rational justification; and so on and on. [Wizblog]

Yeah, I know.

I can't see how these folks are helping their cause any by telling the rest of the state to go piss up a rope. People who are uncomfortable with the whole thing are not going to become more comfortable as a result of this sort of grandstanding. This issue has been beaten to death in the blogosphere, and I have no desire to rehash the entire argument here. I just wanted to point out that it's lousy politics. An Offer Kerry Can?t Refuse!

"If Bill wants Hillary on the bottom of the ticket, all he has to do is make a few phone calls -- Kerry would have little to say in the matter if it got that far," says a DNC fundraiser. "Kerry may think he's going to be running things, but he's in for a rude awakening."

Energy and Environment

What these scaremongers are hoping we won’t notice is that our planet’s climate is not static, but actually quite dynamic. A number of factors play into the natural variability of our climate, including plate tectonics, volcanic activity, ocean currents, the orbit of the moon, meteor strikes, and solar storms. Human activity also plays a role, of course, but it is relatively small – a sudden shift in Pacific Ocean currents in the mid 1970s, for instance, is credited with bringing about a major change in weather patterns over much of the Northern Hemisphere. Such shifts happen every few decades, and are completely independent of human activity. We couldn’t prevent them if we tried.  [Citizen Smash - The Indepundit]

The American voter deserves what they get.  I am already hearing those who don't like Kerry saying things like "Why don't they chose Edwards?  He's so cute!"  And this is from supposedly straight men.  The women must really be swooning!  To hell with whether he can connect two thoughts at a time.  To hell with whether he could possibly figure out how to lead a nation in time of war!   HE'S CUTE!  That's all that matters.  I'm thinking seriously of immigrating to Mars on the first shuttle load of settlers.  Mars government must be very well run because all the Martians are CUTE!  CP

Kerry Accuses Bush of 'Playing Race Card' at Daytona

(2004-02-16) -- George W. Bush became the first presidential candidate in 2004 to "play the race card" by appearing at the Daytona Speedway Sunday, according to John Forbes Kerry, the presumed Democrat nominee.

"Mr. Bush has again divided this country," said Mr. Kerry. "By appearing at the Daytona 500 he has condoned an economic activity in which the elite win, and everyone else loses."

The junior Senator from Massachusetts called NASCAR racing "another sweet oil deal for the Bush-Cheney-Halliburton cabal. It's more than coincidence that Mr. Bush would make a surprise visit to oil-rich Iraq, and then do the same thing at Daytona."

As president, Mr. Kerry said he would issue an executive order mandating that all NASCAR drivers use hydrogen-powered cars. The Kerry plan calls for the Daytona 500 to be held in Kyoto, Japan, under the supervision of the United Nations, with all drivers wearing baby-blue helmets. [ScrappleFace]
