Gay Marriage in Frisco

By forcing the issue in the courts, the gay activists are inspiring the opposition to mobilize. This wouldn't be a problem, if the Gay Rights movement enjoyed the same level of popular support as the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s.

Unfortunately, it doesn't. It now appears likely that wherever gays win a victory in the courts, they will be overturned by legislative action and, when necessary, constitutional amendments. And that is truly a shame.

When I ask gay people what they expect to get out of this, their answer almost always includes "respect." But they don't seem to understand that respect cannot be won by a court decision or a legislative act.

This is going to backfire, and it's going to be ugly. [Citizen Smash - The Indepundit]

Its not nice to steal.  Sometimes you run into a real Bastard who doesn't like you to steal his shit!

This is a riot!  Be sure to check out Bastard's new page layout.

To Catch a Leech - Bastard Style

First, I renamed the original picture that he was using for background tiles and re-adjusted some html for my site. Then, I made a new picture and named it the same as the picture that he had hotlinked.

After I uploaded the new picture and code to my site, I went to his site and I was thoroughly pleased at what I saw. His background tile - formerly a picture of Janet Jackson's boob - was now tiled with a brilliantly self satisfied me. And looked something like this.

Sigh.

I was afraid of this.  Just when Democrats are about to commit suicide  ... Couldn't this wait until after he locked up the nomination?  And  it means allegations about Dubya's infidelities will have to be manufactured.  Sigh. ... [Curmudgeonly & Skeptical]

I lay down for a nap and all hell breaks loose.  I thought we decided in the Clinton years that this sort of stuff doesn't matter so why even bring it up.  It's going to be a nasty campaign.  Looks like all campaigns from now on will be this way.  It probably means that allegations like this will now have to be manufactured about anyone who votes Republican!  I better go warn the wife.  Sigh!  CP

It's the end of the world....we're all gonna die update:

Global warming may be bad news for future generations, but let's face it, most of us spend as little time worrying about it as we did about al Qaeda before 9/11. Like the terrorists, though, the seemingly remote climate risk may hit home sooner and harder than we ever imagined. In fact, the prospect has become so real that the Pentagon's strategic planners are grappling with it.

Celebrating 9/11 at the FBI

"We were told to take long breaks, to slow down translations, and to simply say 'no' to those field agents calling us to beg for speedy translations so that they could go on with their investigations and interrogations of those they had detained," said Edmonds, who was fired without specified cause by the FBI after she reported breaches in security, mistranslations and potential espionage by Middle Eastern colleagues.

She claims Feghali actually tampered with her work to slow her down.

"My supervisor went as far as getting into my work computer and deleting almost completed work so that I had to go back and start all over again," she said.

George W. Bush -- grand strategist

If you hate George W. Bush, you will hate this Boston Globe story because it makes a strong case that Mr. Bush stands in a select category with presidents Franklin Delano Roosevelt and James Monroe (as guided by his secretary of state, John Q. Adams) in implementing one of only three grand strategies of American foreign policy in our two-century history.
As the Globe article describes in an interview with Mr. Gaddis: "Grand strategy is the blueprint from which policy follows. It envisions a country's mission, defines its interests, and sets its priorities. Part of grand strategy's grandeur lies in its durability: A single grand strategy can shape decades, even centuries of policy." [Curmudgeonly&Skeptical]
