Christian Tradition [posted by ZelderPK] Today marks the beginning of Holy Week for those who are Christians (well, except for Orthodox Christians) by remembering Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem. There is evidence that this rememberance began in the early Church as early as the 4th century. There is definite evidence that these ceromonies began in the 8th century. During the middle ages, Palm Sunday was very elaborate with long blessings being bestowed on the Palms. In the 1950s, the Catholic Church de-emphasized the Palms and focused on the reading of the Passion. I remember having palm leaves even at Cambridge Lutheran Church. Actually, these may be the only Palm leaves I've ever seen in Cambridge. (Info from Britannica)

I blog you. [posted by ZelderBar] Recently, we've gotten some good press in some local blogs. I thought I'd return the favor with this annotated list of blogs.
  • The Chronicles of the Brewer 3: This site is very corn-fed, down right wholesome. The only thing that I can really say about it is that I predict that it will someday be called "The Chronicles of the Brewer 4." I also wonder if they strive for the perfection found in the Cambridge Chronicle?
  • This is Burns Stuff: In the words of a great teacher of mine, "Ah Burns, the machine I'm getting to replace you is getting cheaper by the day." Unfortunately, Mr. Burns leaves us wanting more stuff. Give us more!
  • Conversation With Myself: DeLeon has come a long ways since our days in the college dorms, but he hasn't let this get in his way. This blog only confirms my suspicions that he talks with himself. Now, it's just in a public forum.
  • SoberDan As if you couldn't tell, but yes, he actually is sober. ALWAYS! Heaven forbid. I have to tell you that I was very dissappointed with his April Fool's Day post. Dan, you can do better than that.
  • Arbitrary Content Reference Links: I don't want to run the risk of insult here, but I have to link directly this site's list of quality information tools. When I see a good librarian at work, I have to make note. Nice work.
Yes, these posts do underlie the self-referential nature of blogging, but what the hell. Take a gander into the lives of these friends.
