Father Swanson: "To who?" (his response when Mother Swanson told him the news)

A sad realization [posted by Troy] It's sad how your perspective shifts over time. Today I saw a New York Times article that read "2 U.S. Troops Are Killed in Blast at Baghdad Chemical Warehouse," and I thought, "Two dead? That's not too bad." Then I realized that even one dead is bad. As the body count continues to rise (car bombings that kill 68, for instance), our perspective on death begins to change. Or at least, we get more immune to the idea of dead U.S. soldiers. I've now hit the point where two doesn't seem all that high, and I'm a little saddened by this.
