I woke up this morning rather stiff in the upper body. Must...get...muscle...relaxer...for...sleeping. Actually, it wasn't too bad.
I arrived at my first stop and things proceeded smoothly. However, because they received an extra amount of merchandise, it took a little bit longer than normal to unload their portion of the trailer. So, I arrived at my second stop either right on time or shortly afterwards (depending on whose watch you looked at!). It seems the stops are prearranged for time--how long it should take to unload an average load for a particular stop and how long it takes to get to the next stop (if you have one). My company could have added 15-30 minutes this time around to the second stop's ETA because the load was more than the first stop usually gets. At any rate, everyone was happy to get their stuff.
After unloading at the second destination in Iowa, I headed back for the warehouse in Milwaukee. Once there, the return items were off-loaded. I hadn't been pre-planned for tomorrow's trip yet. So, I headed home and had a great lasagna dinner my wife baked. Yummy!
miles driven = 433
PostScript: Later on in the evening, I contacted one of the company's dispatchers, Mr. J, and he said that he didn't have anything for me tomorrow. However, if got in before another driver, he would give his route to me (he couldn't start driving until after I could so it made sense for me to take the load and deliver it the locations in Illinois on time). So, I'll be going in early tomorrow--time to sign off!
