We got almost one-half inch of snow overnight.  However, the driving conditions were good on the major roads throughout Wisconsin.  Illinois had a couple of slick spots on the Interstate, but nothing to be worried about.

I arrived at my Iowa destination with an hour to spare.  After the truck was unloaded, I made my way about 35-miles up the road to pick up some items for the warehouse.  The office guy gave me directions to a second location nearby the first location.  Unfortunately, I thought I heard him say "turn right" instead of what he actually said which was "turn left" in part of his directions.  So, I spent nearly an hour dozing off by some shipping/receiving docks that were at the wrong location.  Part of his instructions were to wait for someone to come outside from the location to indicate that I could back in to the dock.  When I saw another tractor/trailer back into a open dock, I began to wonder if I was at the right spot.  I retraced my route back to the office and found out that I was indeed at the wrong location.  Once arriving at the right location, it took almost 2-hours for the truck to be loaded by hand--boxes on the floor (instead of on pallets).

Once loaded, off I headed back towards Wisconsin.  This will be the second night-in-a-row I'll be spending at home.  Hmm...if I can't get the 2,300-2,500 miles/week the recruiters told me I would get (average miles/week/year), maybe the next best thing is to get between 400-500 miles-a-day and be home most evenings during the week.  That would be a good compromise (at least in my mind).

I wasn't pre-planned for tomorrow morning.  I think they think I wouldn't make it back to the warehouse before my hours ran out for the day.  So, tomorrow morning, I'll call my dispatcher first before driving in.  Who knows, he just may tell me to sleep in a few more hours before starting the day!

miles driven = 457

PostScript: Since we have a night dispatcher (Duh!), I called in around 9:30 PM.  Mr. J. said to call in around 5:30 AM and see if I had been assigned to a shipment.  Cool!  I'll get close to 7-hours of sleep!
