I arrived at the warehouse this morning before 4:00 AM to be told by Mr. J (night dispatch) that they had decided to give my morning run to another driver since he could get it there on time.  So, I was assigned another Chicago run.  There was one catch.  It delivered at noon.  Bummer.  I decided to take it since there wasn't anything else available (that and having a sufficient quantity of MochaTonix [chocolate coffee] coursing through my veins to keep me awake for a while).  So, I hooked up to the trailer and made it to a truckstop in Illinois.

There I rested until 10:15 AM before delivering the shipment to the receiving location.  The trailer was loaded.  It took me just over 2-hours to unload the trailer with the help of a few individuals.  I also learned, that the could have taken me earlier then the scheduled appointment time (that varies from location-to-location).

After heading back to Milwaukee, I realized that I couldn't make tomorrow's appointment in Iowa that was pre-planned on me.  It would take me around 5-hours for me to get the load there on time at 6:00 AM.  I figured that I'd be done for the day around 6:00 PM (I was right) and therefore, would need to take a 10-hour break which would end at 4:00 AM tomorrow morning.  I'd need an airplane to deliver the load on time!

So, I called Mr. J (day dispatch) and told him what was going on.  He said he'd take care of it and try to find a load for me.  Within the hour, he informed me that I had a load that would be delivered about an hour south of Milwaukee in Illinois.  I'm sure hoping that when I get back to the warehouse after tomorrow's morning run, I'll have a good 2-day trip before me.  Otherwise, I'll have a short day (and my miles for the week will be dismal).  However, I'm still learning the "ropes" and I expected the first 2-3 weeks would be learning and fitting into their system.

My family was surprised to see me again (for the second day-in-a-row).  That's a plus being located so close to the warehouse (and being assigned the Chicago area run for one day).  Well it's time for slumberland--tomorrow morning will come soon.

miles driven = 233
