Since I didn't know exactly where I was going in Chicago prior to arriving at the warehouse (and looking at my precise trip plan), I decided to play it safe and get there early.  I'm glad I did.  I arrived at my first Chicago destination with 30-minutes to spare.  If I would have set my alarm for 1-hour later than I did, things would have not turned out so well!

I actually had two Chicago stops--the first delivered at 7:00 AM and the second stop delivered at 10:00 AM.  Chicago traffic wasn't too bad--I was surprised.  Of course I was either on secondary roads or unloading during the peak of rush hour.  But still, I thought it would be worse.

For some reason, I was tired on the way back to the warehouse in Milwaukee.  I had a restful weekend so I'm not sure why I felt tired.  Perhaps I'm allowing myself to relax a little now that I'm familiar with the responsibilities of the job.  It could also be that I had 5-hours of sleep last night.  I wasn't tired until later in the evening.  It's no sense going to bed and then toss and turn awhile before falling asleep.  Driving takes more out of you physically then you might think.  So, I'll try and get at least 6-hours of sleep this evening.

At the warehouse, I waited for my bills for tomorrow's shipment going to Iowa.  After waiting around for more than an hour, the warehouse had the trailer loaded and they sent the paperwork to the dispatch office.  But, since I was almost out of hours for the day, I decided to go home and start early tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow should yield around 9-hours of driving time.  So if everything goes well (I'm picking up a shipment in Iowa and bringing that back to the warehouse), I should be staying at home tomorrow night.  Although the family (and I) appreciate me being home, I'm hoping I'll be seeing more miles every week (which means more nights away from home).  However, if I could get some weekly routes between around 500-550 miles a day and be home every night, that would be sweet!

miles driven = 257

PostScript: I met the boss of the dedicated account I work in today.  Mr. N seems like a personable, good guy.  So far, I'm impressed with the caliber of people I'm meeting within the unit I work in (as well as throughout the company I work for).
