Matt Croydon - Java Server Pages Usage

Matt Croydon points to the Netcraft site and their statistics on JSP usage. Well I know why usage is up. JSP's are just so dang slick:

Netcraft: JSP Usage Up.

Netcraft tracks the trends of JSP usage:

Last December we reported that the number of JSP sites had grown quickly during 2002, albeit from a small starting point. Reviewing the growth over the past year since July 2002, JSP continues to enjoy fast growth with a 94% increase in ip addresses running JSP based sites to over 44,000 ip addresses running some 105,000 active sites.

Check out the rest of the article.  The makeup of operating systems running JSP is quite interesting.

Boston Globe - Weblogs and Politics

Below is a link to the Boson Globe [July 23, 2003, "Blogs' shake the political discourse"] from Dave Winer on weblogs and politics. The article talks about a weblogger named Oliver Willis. From the article, "Blogs are easy to create, cheap to set up, and commonplace on the Web. They can draw thousands of readers per day and dozens of posted comments in a running conversation that Willis likes to think of as talk radio for the wired."

2003 Denver Mayoral Transition

Here's a short article from the Rocky Mountain News [July 23, 2003, "Chewing fat on city's thin wallet"] about Mayor Hickenlooper's first day in office. The Rocky quotes Mr. Hickenlooper as saying, "We need to find new revenues because I don't want to raise taxes or start doubling fees. We're going to face this budget issue head-on, shoulder to shoulder with city employees." Here's the coverage from the Denver Post [July 23, 2003, "Rookies take the field"].
