"What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children - not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women - not merely peace in our time but peace for all time." -- JFK

Gore sounds pretty good [algore04.com]. I'm impressed.

There's a question left open at the end, though. Bush is obviously intent on using foreign policy -- an invasion of Iraq or a new terrorist attack -- to distract attention from domestic issues in the November elections.

How shall we prevent that? Will Al fight for us this time?

[1:27:44 PM]
Let's say Little George attacks Iraq this fall in order to keep from losing the House to the Democrats (in part to keep from getting impeached and thrown out of office).

Let's say Saddam sends some SCUD missiles to Tel Aviv. What's Sharon gonna do?

When Israelis start attacking Iraq, what do the other Arab states do? What happens in the streets of Cairo, Damascus, and Riyadh? Maybe Sharon does some ethnic cleansing in the West Bank and Gaza under cover of war. Now *everybody's* happy.

Either that or we make peace between Israel and Palestine, and go back to weapons inspections in Iraq.

Look. Dim W. belongs to some kind of right-wing, freakoid, hate-mongering religious cult. He could give 10,000 sound-bites about "the Muslamic" religion being peaceful, but no one is going to be fooled: W. is an idiot, and whenever there's no teleprompter, his truely stupid beliefs come out. Islam is "some kind of false religion". There's no hope pretending that Bushlet meant something different. Bushlet is an idiot freakoid. We all know it. And through no fault of his own, Bushlet's hate-mongering cult -- by way of the U.S. military -- is even more murderous than Islam's hate-mongers.

[12:15:22 AM]
We all know that there are FBI agents whose personal values incite them to fight crime and terrorism. We also know that the corporate culture promotes renegade political crimes. These are the people who spent years harassing potential Clinton witnesses while they allowed Bin Laden to kill thousands. We need honest crime fighters with high integrity, but if the organization can't overcome its J. Edgar roots, it should just be eliminated. The people who blocked the Bin Laden investigations should be convicted of treason. They should not be eligible for parole.

[12:08:44 AM]
"Katherine Harris' tenure as Secretary of State has been an embarrassment to Florida. Thanks to her we have again become the punch line of a national joke. But failing to follow election law isn't funny, especially when you are the person who is supposed to uphold it," said Bob Poe, Florida Democratic Party Chair. "Her blatant disregard and ignorance of the law raises some serious questions."

Only a Democrat who wants the party nomination in 2004 will keep Harris off the ballot.

Nobody in the whole freaking world will believe Bush is tough on corporate crime until Kenny Boy, DICK, and W. himself are safely behind bars. Heck, you'd have to have Poppy and James III on a chain gang before I would believe the Bushlet was serious about corporate crime.

Oops. No doubt that he's serious about corporate crime. He's serious about profiting from it, and giving a green light to his Kleptocratic cronies....

[12:00:35 AM]
Hmmm, now. Larry D. Thompson, head of the federal task force on corporate fraud was head of the Providian audit committee, and sold his shares in Providian just two months before the company informed its investors of its actual financial situation -- causing the stock to plummet.

Thompson was obviously chosen because his the complete lack of any appearance of propriety. It's a den of thieves, and if you haven't stolen millions, you're nothing. Heck, even Neil Bush is a billion dollar punk.

So the issue about Thompson isn't whether it was $1 million or $5 million. Stealing $5 million doesn't get you a job, even if your last name is Bush.

How many employees did Thompson fire, or cause to be fired? How much did he move into off-shore accounts? Surely he wouldn't be working for the Bushes if he hadn't been primarily responsible for Providian's meltdown....
