News -- Three-quarters of U.S. college students now use
the Internet more than the library:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A22234-2002Sep15.html
Comment -- I remember being very frustrated at MSU when I was a student,
trying to do term papers and finding that critical books were already
checked out. Today, of course, the books may still be checked out, but at
least some of the information I need would be on the Web. And, I could at
least check the online library catalog to see if the book I'm looking for is
in-stock.
News -- Right out of the Sopranos: FBI agent in Boston convicted of helping
the Mafia:

Comment -- He was sentenced to 10 years in prison. I'm sure someone will
buy the rights to the story for a TV movie.
News -- Billiards game you can play over the Internet with a pal:

Comment - Great, one more game that Brandon can clobber me at.
