So Clemmie has recently developed the most amazing case of gas ever known to man or dog kind. The strength, volume, intensity, and downright unbelievable aroma of her emissions are a force of nature. More than once Peter and I have fled the room gagging. Poor Clem - her self esteem is really taking a beating. Plus she feels totally punk when her intestinal upset is at its worst.
I took her to her vet, Dr. Hinckley on Friday. He did a thorough workup and she came through with flying colors - nothing serious. But as Dr. Hinckley said, "These older dogs sometimes develop difficulties digesting their food." So he put her on a one week trial of a special easy-to-digest diet. The Hills Pet Food recipe is somewhat involved. Especially when attempting to be efficient, you stupidly try to make 5 days worth all at once. I had Cream of Wheat all over the stove and counters.
I have, on my own, decided to add 1 cup of rice to the recipe. The recipe is so soupy that I'm worried about potential accidents.
Hopefully this diet change will help. If it doesn't, we have to figure out how to bottle this stuff up to send to Afghanastan as a secret weapon in the fight against the "evil doers".
